Making Your
Kitchen Shelving Work for You
It seems as
though no matter how much space is available in your kitchen, your
kitchen shelving is always filled
to over flowing. Making kitchen shelving work is a challenge we all
face. Follow these simple tips to make kitchen shelving work
for you.
- Get started by
removing everything from your kitchen shelving. This is a great
time to clean out those things you don’t use. Start a
donation box and a garbage pile.
- As you are
sorting through your kitchen shelving items, separate them by
things that you use frequently and things that are only used on a
seasonal basis.
- Once your
kitchen shelving is completely empty, wipe down all of your kitchen
shelving. You are then reloading into a clean space.
- Now is the time
to start thinking about how to reload your kitchen shelving. Start
by organizing the remaining items into groups. Suggested groups
include: cookware, serving items, plates and glasses, bake ware,
etc.
- Find locations
for each of your groups on kitchen shelves closest to the area of
the kitchen where they will be used. For example, pots and
pans should be placed on kitchen shelving near the cook top. Plates
and glasses should be on kitchen shelving near the dining area for
easy table setting.
- Place items of
frequent use on lower kitchen shelving. Heavier items should
also be placed on lower shelves. Finally, less used items should be
placed on higher kitchen shelving.
