Who knew that a
military deployment would lead to the founding of the
nation’s only shelf company franchise, now called

In 2005, Allan
Young was a small business consultant with a growing list of
clients when he was deployed to the Middle East with the U.S. Army
Reserves. Young sought the assistance of other consultants to help
his clients during his deployment, but he left not knowing if he
would have any clients to come home.
One company
waited; they were a shelf company that designed, built and
manufactured high-end, custom Glide-OutTM shelves.
Young was charged with developing a growth plan for the shelf
company. Within a year this shelf company had grown from a single
location family owned business to a nationwide shelf company with
30 dealers.
This start up
shelf company was the foundation for what is now known as
ShelfGenie. ShelfGenie is the nation’s only franchised shelf
company providing custom-built shelving solutions. As the only

facilitate growth, Young brought on a business partner, Barry

franchise agreements and expects to have 125-150 franchise owned
