I bought a 40+ year old house and although the cabinets were solidly constructed, the shelves were all stationary. In particular, the corner cabinet in the kitchen went way back and one couldn’t easily get anything out from there. I had pullout shelves installed in the pantry, in one of the wider under counter cabinets, and in that corner cabinet. That now has pullout shelves, and when the front one is pulled out, you can slide the deeply recessed shelf into the space where the pullout shelf had been.
