In 2013, Jay started working for ShelfGenie as the National Franchise Support Manager at the company headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Working from his home in Omaha, he spent 70-90% of his time traveling and working with ShelfGenie Franchisees and Designers throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 2014, he moved to the Franchisee side, using his knowledge and skills to grow the business in Omaha, Des Moines and the Twin Cities. After five years of growing those markets, Jay and his business partner, Nick Starkey, sold Des Moines and the Twin Cities in 2019, choosing to focus on growing the Eastern Nebraska/ Western Iowa market.
Prior to ShelfGenie, Jay worked for a number of industries, including at the headquarters of two large franchise systems, in the areas of sales, franchise standards and quality, business development and account management.
On the personal side, Jay is a widower with two grown children. His son and daughter-in-law and, most importantly, two grandchildren, live in Minneapolis. Jay’s daughter and son-in-law are in Boston. Jay’s interests include spending time with his life partner and friends, history, genealogy and travel.
